Jonathan Zima is a trial attorney who represents businesses, manufacturers, and transportation companies in complex civil disputes across California, with a particular focus on business litigation, legal malpractice and professional liability, business litigation, and high-exposure defense matters. Jonathan’s connection to the legal profession began early, as the son of two attorneys. Growing up in a household shaped by the law sparked a lasting passion for advocacy, which he further developed during his undergraduate studies at the University of Missouri.

Jonathan attended Pepperdine University School of Law, where he was a member of Pepperdine’s nationally recognized Trial Team. He excelled academically and competitively, winning Best Closing Argument at the San Fernando Valley Bar Association’s Mock Trial Tournament and earning two CALI Awards for academic excellence. Upon graduation, Jonathan was inducted into the Order of Barristers for excellence in oral advocacy and brief writing.

Following law school, Jonathan practiced at the headquarters of one of Orange County’s largest litigation firms, representing clients in business litigation, trucking and transportation matters, legal malpractice and professional liability disputes, and financial services litigation. He later advanced his career at one of California’s top business litigation and professional liability firms, where he continued to refine his courtroom skills while representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex, high-stakes matters.

Throughout his career, Jonathan has successfully handled a wide range of civil disputes, including a two-week jury trial resulting in a complete defense verdict. He was also retained on the eve of trial as parachute trial counsel in a long-running complex business litigation matter between a decades-old Orange County company and a Fortune 500 corporation represented by a major international law firm. After stepping into the case as lead counsel, Jonathan identified a new damages theory that had not previously been developed, which ultimately led to a seven-figure recovery for his client during evidentiary hearings, after the highest prior settlement offer had been only $15,000.

Jonathan is deeply engaged in the Orange County legal community. He currently serves as Chair of the Orange County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and is a 2026 member of the OCBA Board of Directors. He previously served as a Chair of the Young Lawyers Division’s Community Outreach Committee, organizing volunteer initiatives for Orange County attorneys. Jonathan is an active member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, the Banyard Inn of Court, and the OCBA’s Business Litigation, Tort/Trial, and Community Outreach Sections. He was also named a Southern California Rising Star for 2026 by Super Lawyers.

When not practicing law, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family, running with his dogs, volunteering with his local church, and attending Newport Beach Rotary Club events.
