Jonathan Zima is a trial attorney who represents businesses, manufacturers, and transportation companies in complex civil disputes across California. Jonathan’s connection to the legal profession began early, as the son of two attorneys. Growing up in a household shaped by the law sparked a lasting passion for advocacy, which he further developed during his undergraduate studies at the University of Missouri.

Jonathan then attended Pepperdine University School of Law, where he was a member of Pepperdine’s nationally recognized Trial Team. He excelled academically and competitively, winning the Best Closing Argument at the San Fernando Valley Bar Association’s Mock Trial Tournament and earning two CALI Awards for academic excellence. Upon graduation, Jonathan was inducted into the Order of Barristers for excellence in oral advocacy and brief writing.

Following law school, Jonathan practiced at the headquarters of one of Orange County’s largest litigation firms, representing clients in business litigation, trucking and transportation matters, professional liability disputes, and financial services litigation. He later advanced his career at one of California’s top business litigation and professional liability firms, where he continued to refine his courtroom skills while representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex disputes.

Throughout his career, Jonathan has successfully handled a wide range of civil disputes, including a two-week jury trial that resulted in a complete victory for his client. Jonathan was also recently retained on the eve of trial as parachute trial counsel in a long-running complex business litigation matter between a decades-old Orange County company and a Fortune 500 corporation represented by a major international law firm. After stepping into the case as lead counsel, Jonathan quickly identified a new damages theory that had not previously been developed, which ultimately led to a seven-figure recovery for his client during evidentiary hearings. Before Jonathan’s involvement, the highest settlement offer had only been $15,000. 

Jonathan is also actively engaged in the Orange County legal community. He currently serves as Chair-Elect of the Orange County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and previously served as Co-Chair of the Division’s Community Outreach Committee, organizing volunteer events for Orange County lawyers. He is an active member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, the Banyard Inn of Court, and the OCBA’s Business Litigation, Tort/Trial, and Community Outreach sections. Jonathan also serves on the OCBA’s Artificial Intelligence Task Force and was named a Southern California Rising Star by SuperLawyers for 2026.

When not practicing law, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family, running with his dogs, volunteering with his local church, and attending Newport Beach Rotary Club events.
